Picking the right finance software is an important decision in any business, but part of this decision should be influenced by how easily you can achieve your accounts integration in Dynamics.

“Over the last 3 years various companies have invested substantially in their offerings of accounting software. This has largely been brought about with the introduction of making tax digital, with HMRC wanting all business with turnover over £85,000 to submit their VAT returns digitally.
SAGE, Xero and Quickbooks
One of the forerunners in accounting software was SAGE. SAGE did get complacent with its accounting package, expecting that its customers would be loyal to its brand. However new and existing competitors innovated to a greater extent and were able to claim a larger portion of the market. With its lack of innovation SAGE’s company valuation fell by 35% in just over 6 months.
Xero entered the market from its roots back in New Zealand, and Quickbooks also launched its own cloud-based product.
Reacting to change
Seeing what was happening, Peter Jones got behind SAGE, helping them to invest in producing their own cloud-based product, and has enabled SAGE to return its valuation to where it previously sat.

So, the three main products are SAGE, Xero and Quickbooks and at Thomas Quinn we are partnered with each of these to offer them to our clients.
There are other cloud accounting software out there, such as Kashflow, Freshbooks or Freeagent, but they do not have the same level of investment to enable them to innovate to the level of the main three.”
Did you know that Dynamics can talk to accounting applications?
Dynamics can easily integrate with Sage, Xero and Quickbooks. Many of the other systems can also integrate but it may not be as straightforward and cost effective as the main players.
If you are looking to upgrade over a few years you will need to think about what you are currently using or what you want to use in the future. This needs to be considered early so the design can take both applications into account. What is your current system? Do you use your accounting system to hold all your customer details? Does that track customer correspondence?
Do you use your CRM system to hold your quotes? Does that track payments made?
Ideally you need both a CRM and an Accounting system. When you integrate them, you need them to work together and pass information back and forth. This will make your life easier.
