How can Microsoft 365 Business Voice help?

Microsoft 365 Business Voice is a modern cloud-based telephone solution (VoIP) that is able to integrate with the other Office 365 applications. It makes it easy for both small and medium organisations to use Microsoft Teams as a powerful telephone system!

More than this, Microsoft 365 Business Voice allows you to have your full office switchboard and call routing settings on your personal phone wherever you are, so you will never miss a call.

What more can Voice do?

If you’re home for the holidays, you may be wondering how you can remain connected to your office switchboard. Using VoIP technology, Microsoft 365 Business Voice allows you to call from any device, anywhere (as long as you have access to the internet). With the correct licensing, every user can be set up with their own DDI (direct dial-in). All calls will continue to go through the switchboard and users who are working from home can continue to make and receive calls just as they would in the office! All devices can be set to ring simultaneously across all connected devices but you have the ability to configure your settings to your own preference over a range of dates.

Business Voice is a replacement for traditional telephone providers and in-house phone systems. Because the phone and calling system is already a part of Teams, users are able to turn any Mac, PC, or mobile device into a working phone with the assigned Business Voice phone number.

In countries with support for Calling Plans, subscriptions to third-party telephone providers is no longer needed to manage phone numbers as Microsoft 365 takes over this role. In countries and regions where support for Calling Plans isn’t available, your telephone provider will not need to change at all. Read more about how this works here.

Answering messages are no more

Hopefully, your company has a policy to turn the switchboard off over holiday periods for events like Christmas. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean you wont receive any calls or messages. When a caller leaves a message, Business Voice allows for the message to be transcribed into written format. This is then emailed to the relevant phone numbers, helping to ensure messages will not go missing. Although the goal is not to be checking your messages when on holiday, sometimes having a quick peek at an email is enough to cure your curiosity and allow you to enjoy the rest of your day!
