What is Power Automation?
Wondering what Power Automate is? Want to know if it could benefit you? This blog can help!
Microsoft’s MS Flow has been renamed Power Automate—a Cloud-based workflow engine that can automate manual activities, repetitive tasks, and paperless processes. It’s part of the Microsoft Power Platform; a larger suite that also offers Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Virtual Agents.
Essentially, it’s an application that can take your standard work processes and do them for you automatically.

Who would benefit from Power Automate?
It doesn’t matter who you are. Whether you work in Finance, IT, or HR—Power Automate can streamline your workload into your personal workflow. Maximise your productivity by using the system to automate your work processes between the applications and services you use most!
With Power Automate, you can create a ‘flow’ that will save your Office 365 email attachments to OneDrive for Business on your behalf. Instead of taking the time to complete these small yet time-consuming tasks, the application will begin saving all attachments sent to your Office 365 inbox to a folder called ‘Email Attachments from Power Automate’. This can save you time and give you easy access to your email attachments when you need them.
Pros of Power Automation
Power Automate empowers everyone with the ability to build automated processes with flows. Using low-code, drag-and-drop tools, the hundreds of pre-built connectors are able to automate repetitive tasks such as filing emails with ease. With the process advisor, you’re able to record and visualise your end-to-end processes. This provides recommendations for when you’re creating flows and deep insights—taking the guesswork out of what to automate.
The software application allows us to easily integrate with other applications and services through the use of ‘connectors’. Connectors represent the application / service you wish to connect to and link them together. This allows data to be moved from one application to another.
Through use of the AI Builder, automation is made even smarter. Quickly process forms using document automation, process approvals, detect images and text, or create with pre-built models.
Power Automate can be used on desktop, mobile, web and even integrated with Microsoft Teams.

What else can you do with Power Automate?
There’s lots that you can do with Power Automate. By automating certain tasks, you can achieve the following and more:
- Get push notifications from emails.
- Send customised emails when new files are added. For example, send yourself or someone else a customised email whenever a new file is added to a selected SharePoint document library.
- Receive weather forecasts from any location.
- Receive email reminders. Set yourself to receive reminders several days before the due date.
